By ridiculing a reporter’s question Wednesday and abruptly leaving a media session, Baker Mayfield may have actually endeared himself further to many fans of the Cleveland Browns. But his behavior did little to dispel perceptions that he and his disappointing team lack focus.
Big things were expected this season from the Browns, who saw Mayfield play well as a rookie last year and then added star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in the offseason. However, Cleveland is 2-5 after a 27-13 loss Sunday to the host New England Patriots.
Mayfield’s testy moment arrived when he was discussing the Browns’ unsuccessful drive at the end of the first half, in which the team got the ball down 10 points with 2:19 left, but went just 14 yards in seven plays before time ran out.
