KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A week ago Broncos coach Vance Joseph remained adamant Trevor Siemian was and would remain the Broncos’ starting quarterback, despite a string of turnovers and a pair of “embarrassing” losses. Siemian was his guy, he said then, so he never considered making a switch.
Joseph’s tune was different Monday night, following his team’s five turnovers and the Broncos’ third consecutive loss. After praising his team’s defense and running game, Joseph said, “It all falls back to turning the ball over five times. That’s insane.”
Asked why he didn’t make a switch in-game and insert Brock Osweiler for Siemian, who threw three interceptions, Joseph said the Broncos remained in the game in the third quarter, drawing within 20-13, and he believed it was the right call to stick with Siemian.
