Denver Broncos To Sign QB Christian Ponder

The Denver Broncos have reportedly reached an agreement with QB Christian Ponder as an insurance policy behind Brock Osweiler while Peyton Manning is sidelined by a foot injury, per a report by NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Denver announced on Tuesday that they'd be working out the former Minnesota Vikings first-round pick this morning, and it appears that they're were impressed enough to offer him a deal.

According to Rapoport, Ponder will be slotted in as the #3 quarterback behind Brock Osweiler and Trevor Siemian. He will likely be given time to learn the offense before he's placed directly behind Osweiler on the depth chart.

Ponder made 36 starts over the course of four years in Minnesota. He made just one in 2014, however, and hasn't been on an NFL roster since catching on with the Oakland Raiders this past preseason.

Keep checking back for more details as they emerge.
