Broncos Rumors: Broncos to release veteran CB Champ Bailey

This next bit from the Broncos rumors and news file may not come as a huge shock to those familiar with the financial side of the things, but the Denver Broncos are planning on releasing one of the best cornerbacks of this generation.

CBSSports.com NFL insider Jason La Canfora has just broken the story via Twitter that the Denver Broncos are planning to release veteran cornerback Champ Bailey--

There have been rumors swirling about Bailey's potential release, but it still marks a strange day for one of the most dominant defensive players of the past decade and a half.

Champ Bailey was besieged by injuries in 2013, limiting to just six games with the Broncos and three starts.

The 35-year-old cornerback stated after the Super Bowl that he wants to continue his NFL career into 2014 and beyond, but rumors of a possible retirement are still circulating after his recent foot injury limited his effectiveness and availability with the AFC Champion Broncos.

By completing this cut pre-March 15th, the Denver Broncos save themselves a $1 million bonus that would have been owed to the 12-time NFL Pro Bowler.
