Broncos Rumors: Broncos to exercise option on LB Von Miller?

In Broncos rumors today, the Denver Broncos have a big decision upcoming with star linebacker Von Miller and his fifth-year contract option which has to be utilized by May 3rd at risk of losing it.

So says Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com: "With Miller still recovering from ACL surgery and slated to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2014 season, team officials face their first major decision about Miller's contract. The team has until May 3 to exercise an option year in Miller's rookie deal that would put him under contract for 2015."

"With 15 days before the deadline, the Broncos had not yet reached a decision as Friday's business day drew to a close."

Von Miller seemed to be on the fast track to superstar status in Denver when the Broncos drafted him with the 2nd pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

However, a substance-abuse suspension, injuries, and other controversies have led to doubts amongst the fan base and analysts alike over whether or not Miller will ever live up to the potential he displayed when he first came into the league.

The Broncos could also opt to decline the option, and if Miller outperforms expectations in 2014, could franchise tag him for $11 million or so in 2015.
