What to know about World Cup qualifying for the USMNT

The United States men’s national team will look to create a new legacy after its stunning failure from four years ago Thursday when it opens 2022 World Cup qualification in El Salvador.

The U.S. failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup after losing to last-place Trinidad and Tobago on the last day of matches in 2017.
