Wayne Rooney’s coaching tenure came to an end Saturday with D.C. United’s 2-0, season-closing victory over New York City FC at Audi Field.

With Rooney’s contract expiring in a few months, United seemed inclined to make a change, and the coach told reporters after the victory that he was departing.
