Wayne Rooney will not return as D.C. United’s head coach, ending a 15-month tenure that brought improvement to the wayward MLS club but failed to land a playoff berth.
Rooney and the organization announced after Saturday’s season-ending 2-0 victory over New York City FC at Audi Field that they were parting ways.
