With the Women’s World Cup less than four months away, U.S. Coach Jill Ellis selected a familiar squad for the SheBelieves Cup, a tournament involving three other highly regarded teams.
Everyone on the 23-player roster was with the top-ranked Americans for friendlies last month at France and Spain. One prominent player is not available, however: midfielder Lindsey Horan (quadriceps injury).
Veteran midfielder Morgan Brian was also omitted (coach’s decision).
The group features Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Becky Sauerbrunn, Tobin Heath and Carli Lloyd.
The Americans will face eighth-ranked Japan on Feb. 27 in Chester, Pa.
