U.S. men’s national team updates: injuries, venues and birthdays

The U.S. national team will open training camp two weeks from today in central Florida, its 2018 World Cup aspirations in the balance with two qualifiers left. And as Bruce Arena monitors his core players and assembles his squad, injuries — and injury recovery — will keep his attention right up to the roster announcement on the eve of workouts.

He received good news on two fronts this weekend:

DeAndre Yedlin, the first-choice right back who missed the previous set of qualifiers with a hamstring injury, played 90 minutes in Newcastle’s 2-1 victory over Stoke City on Saturday.
