Troy Lesesne, a coach on the rise, is set to lead D.C. United

United officials said they did not want to comment. Lesesne could not be immediately reached for comment.

Lesesne (pronounced Le-sane) agreed to a three-year guaranteed contract, said one person close to the team, who, like others, did not want to be identified because they were not authorized to discuss the deal.

Lesesne becomes United’s third full-time head coach since Ben Olsen was fired late in the 2020 season.

Initially hired by the Red Bulls as an assistant in 2022, Lesesne received wide praise for recalibrating the team last season following Gerhard Struber’s dismissal two months into the campaign.
