Washington Spirit Coach Jonatan Giráldez will miss the team’s next game to serve an additional one-game suspension for a red card he received after the April 26 home defeat to Gotham FC, the NWSL announced Monday.
Giráldez was ejected in second-half stoppage time of the 3-0 loss for entering Gotham’s bench area “in a confrontational manner.”
After receiving the red card, Giráldez did not exit the field, the league said. Upon further review, the NWSL increased his suspension to two games, with the first served during Friday’s 4-3 home loss to Angel City.
