Lee Nguyen's right-footed shot hit the crossbar in the 55th minute and the New England Revolution and D.C. United played to a scoreless draw on Saturday.
Kelyn Rowe had an opening in the 93rd minute to put the Revolution on top, but his right-footed shot from near the middle of the box missed wide left. The Revolution have been shut out in their past three home openers.
United had its best late scoring chance when Bobby Boswell headed down Julian Buescher's corner in the 85th minute. It skidded through to the far side of the box where Nick DeLeon ripped it wide of the post.
