After six months of experimentation, U.S. men’s national soccer team coach Mauricio Pochettino has called upon the cavalry once more.
Pochettino summoned a mostly first-choice squad Thursday for October friendlies against Ecuador and Australia, bringing Weston McKennie, Antonee Robinson, Malik Tillman and Matt Turner back to the fold. After turning to a blend of regulars and newcomers for the Americans’ June friendlies, summer Concacaf Gold Cup run and September exhibitions, Pochettino has more or less assembled an A-team for the first time since the United States crashed out of the Concacaf Nations League in March.
