Eryk Williamson, a University of Maryland attacker from D.C. United’s youth academy and U.S. under-20 national team, will forego his senior season in order to pursue a pro career, multiple sources told the Insider on Tuesday.
He has signed with an agent and will weigh opportunities with United or clubs overseas. United is planning to tender a homegrown contract offer in the coming weeks in an effort to keep him in the organization. Because of Williamson’s ties to the youth system, he is exempt from the MLS draft next month.
