September was a big month in many ways for D.C. United, and today, it was capped off today when MLS announced that Luciano Acosta was named Player of the Month. In five games during September, Acosta, who has hit new heights with the arrival of Wayne Rooney, recorded four goals and six assists. His marvelous month was capped off last weekend in United’s must win game against the Montreal Impact, in which Acosta scored the game winning goal, and provided three second half assists in a 5-0 romp.
With 9 goals and 16 assists so far this season, Acosta has already cleared his career highs for both through 29 games.
