J.T. Marcinkowski, a U.S. under-20 national team goalkeeper who started for Georgetown for three seasons, is leaving the program a year early to sign a homegrown contract with MLS’s San Jose Earthquakes, multiple sources told the Insider on Tuesday.

With David Bingham out of contract, the Earthquakes made a hard push to sign their former academy player and add him to a squad that includes two-year pro Andrew Tarbell, 24, who started the last 11 regular season matches and a playoff game this fall.

Marcinkowski, 20, is expected to finish the fall semester at Georgetown and join the Earthquakes for training camp in late January.
