Egypt protests alleged racism after World Cup qualifier loss to Senegal

The moment hardly needed more drama. In a World Cup qualifier in Dakar, the match between Senegal and Egypt came down to a shootout.

But as Egypt captain Mohamed Salah and other teammates stepped up for their attempts, fans in the capacity crowd targeted their faces with laser pointers. And not just one of two random pointers — their faces were bathed in highlighter green. Salah and others missed, with Sadio Mane’s kick lifting Senegal into November’s World Cup.

This is insane! Mo Salah taking a penalty for Egypt with the World Cup on the line and there are 3,000 laser pointers in his eyes.
