Deshorn Brown took a long journey to D.C. United, but he’s no journeyman

Soccer, the world’s game, is a transient profession by nature, marked by opportunity in distant lands and susceptible to the whims of an owner or coach.

At 26, Deshorn Brown already knows the business well: He’s a Jamaican forward who attended college in Alabama and Florida, launched his career in Colorado, sought adventure in Norway and riches in China, returned to Florida for a short spell this spring and set foot in Washington on Monday.

He is not a journeyman, for that implies he’s unwanted. Rather, Brown’s career was on the rise until hitting a roadblock in China over the winter.
