D.C. United’s Bill Hamid ‘most likely’ to make MLS season debut Friday

D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid, sidelined since January after undergoing knee surgery, will probably make his season debut Friday at Sporting Kansas City, Coach Ben Olsen said Wednesday.

Asked about Hamid’s status, Olsen said: “Ready to go.”

Will he play?

“Most likely.”

Olsen added that Hamid has “trained a full two weeks, and each day he has gotten stronger.”

With Hamid’s return, Travis Worra would yield a starting role that he has filled admirably for 11 consecutive matches. A second-year pro who made one MLS appearance last year, Worra has recorded four shutouts and conceded 10 goals.
