D.C. United squanders two-goal lead, settles for draw with Union

There has been so much roster turnover at D.C. United the past few years, few current players have had firsthand experience with the club’s long tract of humiliation against the Philadelphia Union.

The 1-12-2 rut, the 44-12 goal deficit, the seven- and six-goal defeats. It was never discussed in the run-up to Saturday’s reunion at Audi Field, first-year coach Troy Lesesne said.

United’s new bunch will wrestle with a fresh set of ghosts after squandering a two-goal lead and settling for a 2-2 draw before 17,237 on a misty night at Buzzard Point.
