With hours left before the deadline, D.C. United on Monday was on the brink of loaning star winger Paul Arriola to Swansea City for the rest of the English Championship season, multiple people familiar with the talks said.
“Paperwork is in motion,” one person said, requesting anonymity because some details remain unresolved. The cutoff for English league clubs to complete such moves is 6 p.m. ET on Monday.
United would retain conditional rights to recall Arriola this spring. Those conditions are unclear, but in all likelihood, he would remain with the second-division Swans until the end of their campaign in May to earn promotion to the Premier League.
