Only once since the beginning of this decade, in which MLS has expanded from 16 teams to 23, has a team made the playoffs having won just one game on the road. That was last year’s Houston Dynamo, who took 10 points on their travels en route to a 50 point season. D.C. United can match that feat if they fail to win on Sunday, having already locked up a spot in the playoffs with last weekend’s 3-1 win over New York City FC.
However, not matching the Dynamo’s meager record would mean so much more for the Black-and-Red.
