D.C. United ends its dreary season in the MLS cellar

Gabriel Pirani scored in the 67th minute as D.C. United played Atlanta United to a 1-1 draw Saturday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium but still finished the season with the worst record in MLS.

Pirani’s equalizer spoiled the final match of Brad Guzan, the former U.S. national team goalkeeper who announced Tuesday that he would retire after the season. Guzan made 552 appearances with Atlanta and helped the team win the 2018 MLS Cup and the 2019 U.S. Open Cup.
