Sean Franklin, the only D.C. United player to start every regular season match this season, will miss a “few weeks” with a calf injury, Coach Ben Olsen said Wednesday.
The veteran right back strained his calf in the 62nd minute Sunday against the New York Red Bulls and left moments later. He underwent an MRI exam upon the team’s return to Washington.
United, which is one point out of the sixth and final playoff spot in MLS’s Eastern Conference, has six matches left. For sure, Franklin will sit out Friday’s trip to Chicago and the Sept. 24 home match against Orlando City.
