D.C. United players arrived at the RFK Stadium training grounds Tuesday to unseasonably cool and gray conditions, an appropriate backdrop for a team that has started the MLS season without a victory through five matches and gone winless in nine straight dating from last fall.
Coach Ben Olsen was last to arrive, hopping from his black SUV. Sensing a touch of pessimism among observers gathered at a corner of the field, he commented: “It’s a long season. Long season. Buckle up.”
As fans grow anxious about United’s start and dread another last-place finish, Olsen believes good things are coming.
