In what will be a busy day, D.C. United is about to make their first move. A source close to the situation has told Black and Red United that the team has acquired central defender Frederic Brillant from New York City FC. The team acquired him for an international roster spot and general allocation money.
Brillant had his contract option declined by NYCFC after starting 16 games for the Pigeons this year. He started the season as a rotation player as the team tried to find its feet in central defense, but started every game in the back half of the season.
