Angel City FC defender Savy King underwent successful surgery Tuesday, following her on-field collapse during a match on Friday, the team said.
“After thorough evaluation, doctors discovered a heart abnormality and King underwent successful surgery today to address it,” the club said in a statement. “She is now resting and recovering surrounded by her family, and her prognosis is excellent.”
King collapsed in the 74th minute of the team’s Friday match against the Utah Royals and received medical attention on the field for about 10 minutes. She was taken from the field on a cart and later transported to a Los Angeles hospital.
