With no room for error to reach the playoffs, here's why Stars would rather ignore the big picture right now...

Athletes are warriors, so they like to live in the moment and prepare for the task at hand.

They generally don't like to look at long-term pictures or study analytics and percentages.

That works perfectly for the Stars after blowing a two-goal lead and losing a 3-2 game to the Boston Bruins Friday with 11.1 seconds remaining.

They don't need to know that their current seven-game losing streak (0-5-2) has dropped their playoff chances from 79.2 percent to 5.2 percent, according to sporstclubstats.com.

You probably don't want to tell them that it would be good to win all seven of their remaining games, or remind them that the longest winning streak in franchise history is seven games -- done four times, most recently in 2011.
