The Magnum Opus that is this Stars' offseason is complete.
Well, the rough draft anyway.
In signing Jamie Oleksiak to a one-year contract Friday, Stars general manager Jim Nill has gathered together an impressive group of people and created the opportunity for a very happy ending to the 2017-18 season. However, there is still a lot of editing that needs to be done.
Oleksiak is the perfect example of the process. The 24-year-old defenseman was a first round draft pick in 2014 (14th overall) and has size (6-7, 255) and skill. He could be extremely helpful for new coach Ken Hitchcock in trying to reshape a team that ranked 29th goals against in the NHL last season.
