Why the Stars penalty kill has been so successful in the season's first month

TORONTO -- The Stars penalty kill unit has quietly become one of the best parts of the team, and one of the top units in the NHL.

Over the last two weeks, the Stars have killed 19 consecutive penalties, dating back to Kyle Palmieri's power-play goal for the Devils on Oct. 16. Dallas' PK has now killed 87.5 percent of penalties on the season, ranking fourth in the league. The Stars are one of just two teams with both their power play and penalty kill ranked in the top seven in the league (Tampa Bay is the other).
