Jason Spezza was the second overall pick in the 2001 NHL draft and averaged more than a point a game in eight seasons with the Ottawa Senators.
So as his old team comes to visit American Airlines Center on Monday with Spezza sitting on 24 points in 64 games, you might think there might be some sadness in the 34-year-old center.
To the contrary, Spezza said he's optimistic about how the 2017-18 season can end for himself and his team.
"I think I have the opportunity to be an important player on a team that goes a long way in the playoffs.
