What to take away from the Dallas Stars' training camp cuts on Sunday

FRISCO -- Jim Montgomery no longer needs to peek at a cheat sheet. The Stars cut 15 players Sunday afternoon, reducing their training camp roster to 35 players and consolidating their practice into one group.

"It's a lot easier on the coaching staff," said Montgomery, the first-year Stars coach. "I don't have to check my list three times to make sure that I haven't forgotten anybody."

Ten players were assigned to AHL affiliate Texas: forwards Nick Caamano, Tony Calderone, Joel L'Esperance and Adam Mascherin, defensemen Ben Gleason, Niklas Hansson, Chris Martenet and Ondrej Vala, and goaltenders Philippe Desrosiers and Colton Point.
