This summer's crop of NHL free agents is short on big name impact talent. When you couple that with the NHL estimating that the Salary Cap is going to rise by at least five million dollars you have a recipe for bad contracts. The best unrestricted free agent goalie fit at this point is possibly Andrew Hammond of the Colorado Avalanche.
The Dallas Stars need a backup goaltender. It may take some creativity for them to find a cost effective quality keeper to aid Ben Bishop through at least the 2019 season. A long term option isn't necessary with prospects Jake Oettinger and Colton Point on the cusp of joining the professional ranks, but someone needs to be able to play key minutes this year.
