A newsy day for the Stars shouldn't have a significant short-term effect, but it could become a real story in the long term.
General manager Jim Nill announced Monday that defenseman Marc Methot had arthroscopic knee surgery and would be out for four to six weeks. He added that Martin Hanzal could miss three games with a hand injury and that goalie Kari Lehtonen was out for personal reasons.
The Stars recalled Julius Honka to give them a seventh defenseman and Mike McKenna to provide a backup goalie, but the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens shouldn't be that much different from the one that beat Edmonton on Saturday.
