June will be the busiest month of the offseason for NHL front offices.
Amateur scouts will be providing their last reports to the team and helping to refine their rankings leading into the NHL draft. Pro scouts will be giving their input on potential trade targets or free agent targets.
And general managers are at the center of it all, balancing all the moving parts and taking calls to see what deals are out there. They also have to keep in mind their roster depth and holes as they balance out potential moves. Not just the next season, but also what the roster will look like in several seasons as the prospect pool matriculates or moves out.
