Critics first called the NHL's 2017 entry draft a bit on the weak side, but the buzz now is that this is becoming a class of intrigue.
That's fine with Stars general manager Jim Nill, who should be in the middle of that intrigue Friday in Chicago.
"We don't have a Connor McDavid or an Auston Matthews this year, and I think that's where people started to characterize this draft," Nill said of the lack of a generational talent. "But it's very deep and very strong throughout, and I think you'll see that in the future."
There still is some speculation on who will go No.
