The "New Adventures of Old Ken Hitchcock" is expected to begin with a bang Friday, as the franchise leader in coaching wins who has returned for a swan song is going to institute a hard cut to implement a disciplined system.
"We're going down quick," Hitchcock said Thursday of a massive roster cut that might come after three days. "This is going to be a different camp than anybody has ever seen."
And yet it all feels so familiar.
Hitchcock has 277 regular-season wins with the Stars and led them to the 1999 Stanley Cup. He returns at age 65 and hopes to find some new magic in Dallas.
