The season of firsts reaches another checkpoint for new Stars coach Jim Montgomery.
Monday at Ottawa and Tuesday at New Jersey will be Montgomery's first two opportunities to coach on the road, where he will not have last change like he did during the first four games of the season. At home, Montgomery could respond to whoever the visiting team iced. Now, he'll be the one making the first move.
"I think it gives you more of a mindset of being initiators," Montgomery told reporters in Frisco after an optional practice Sunday morning.
The Stars (3-0-1) go on the road following a strong homestand in which they outscored opponents 17-11.
