With the announcement of Ken Hitchcock's retirement from coaching, the Stars have a lot of potential candidates to hire as new coach. Here are a few to discuss:
Bill Peters
Sources have said that Peters has an out clause in his contract with Carolina. Would he use it to join the Stars? Peters, 53, not only has a history with Jim Nill, but he also seems to share the vision of possession hockey. Peters served as assistant coach of the Red Wings from 2011-14, so he and Nill have worked together. While Peters has not made the playoffs in four seasons with the Hurricanes, his team was first in SAT (shot attempt differential at even strength) at plus-695.
