It's been nearly a week since Dallas Stars CEO Jim Lites tore into captain Jamie Benn and linemate Tyler Seguin with a profanity-laced public tirade. The intent of his blistering attack, which had the blessing of team owner Tom Gaglardi, was to motivate Benn and Seguin, as well as the rest of the Stars, to play better over the remainder of the season.
But as Bob Duff suggested earlier this week, that hardball stance appears to have backfired.
