The Stars began Tuesday ranked second in the NHL in missed shots, collecting 442 in the first 33 games.
While that's not an altogether bad thing, as it shows you have the puck and are putting shots in the direction of the net, the stat has become a concern for coach Lindy Ruff.
"I just look at the good things that can happen from getting the puck on net. You can create a rebound or a faceoff in the offensive zone. There's a lot of good that happens when you hit the goalie," Ruff said.
Conversely, a puck that misses the net can get rimmed around and quickly start a transition in the other direction.
