FRISCO -- The Stars' power play may be a victim of its own success.
The Stars go into Friday's home game against the New York Islanders with the NHL's top power-play conversion rate at 31.8 percent. That is good.
The Stars rarely get the opportunity to show those skills. That is bad.
The Stars have only five power-play chances in the last three games. They have 44 chances in 15 games, second-lowest total in the NHL.
At this rate, the Stars would finish with 241 power plays. That would be the lowest in franchise history since the Minnesota-based club had 207 in 1973-74.
