The AHL has released schedules for the coming season, and it goes without saying that this one is unlike anything we've seen before. The Texas Stars will play 38 games, evenly split between home and road, featuring only five opponents through the season. Starting on February 5th and lasting until May 15th, the schedule will feature Iowa, San Jose, Colorado, Tucson and Cleveland.
The calendar is reminiscent of the baseball-style scheduling that the NHL has picked up as well, focusing primarily on lengthy stands against the same opponent to lower travel costs and risk of virus transmission. The Stars will face Colorado eight times over just two of these such stands.
