The Texas Stars came into their Wednesday night bout with the Grand Rapids Griffins insisting that there would be no “moral victories” against the league-leading Griffins. They were only interested in cold hard points. The Griffins ended the night pocketing those points after a 3-2 victory at Van Andel Arena, and while the Stars wouldn’t take the moral victory, the effort they turned in was nearly enough to steal an actual victory.
Rookie goaltender Arno Tiefensee made 41 saves, in what was his third straight start, while former Griffin Cross Hanas scored a goal and an assist in one of the Stars' more heroic efforts of the season.
