The Dallas Stars continue their first day of free agency transactions with a one year extension of the young blueliner. He’ll make $945,000 next year.
Nemeth has been in and out of the lineup since he had his wrist lacerated in 2014. He’s often been in the two or three player rotation fighting for bottom pairing minutes, similar to the Stars’ other restricted free agent on defense, Jamie Oleksiak.
The signing now gives Dallas seven defensemen under contract for next season.
With the expected promotion of Julius Honka to the NHL club next season, that makes eight defensemen — and that’s before the Stars make a decision on Jamie Oleksiak, too.
