Stars' loss to Blackhawks is reminder of how many blown opportunities this team has wasted this season

In a season filled with “almosts,” the Stars might have outdone themselves Saturday.

After rallying to take a 3-2 lead over Chicago in the third period, Dallas crumbled and lost a 5-3 game in what may have been its most disappointing loss to the season.

"It's a terrible loss," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said of two mistakes that cost the Stars in the third period. "It's not good hockey. It's stupid hockey. It's not good hockey at all."

The defeat ended a season-long six-game homestand at 2-2-2 and dropped the Stars to 21-22-10 (52 points). With 29 games remaining in the season, Dallas is five points out of a playoff spot with a gaggle of teams ahead of them fighting for the same sacred ground.
