The Stars and NHL are expected to announce Saturday that the 2018 NHL draft will be in Dallas at American Airlines Center.
The two entities sent out press releases Friday morning saying there will be a special announcement Saturday at the Dallas Stars Reunion Lawn Party that runs from 6-10 p.m. at the site of the former Reunion Arena. The announcement will be at 7:40 p.m.
The Stars have been rumored to be in contention for the 2018 draft.
The event is significant, because it brings the NHL and its media to the host city. Unlike drafts in other pro sports, NHL teams bring their entire management team, scouting staffs, coaching staffs and ownership to the draft.
