Stars captain Jamie Benn missed practice Thursday afternoon after suffering an upper-body injury during a 5-4 Dallas win over New Jersey on Wednesday night.
Devils forward Miles Wood leveled Benn with an open ice hit that drew a five-minute major for interference and detonated a shoving match afterward that resulting in a pair of roughing penalties and one for cross checking. Benn left the game with 17:55 left in the second period and did not return.
"Jamie is not a player right now and he's day-to-day," Stars coach Jim Montgomery said.
Montgomery said Benn is not in concussion protocol and did not rule out Benn playing Friday night against Washington.
