It was the Artem Shlaine show tonight at Toyota Arena.
Shlaine, in the first multi-point game of his professional career, was the most effective skater on the ice for the Texas Stars. The former Arizona State Sun Devil put up two goals and one assist in the Stars' dominant, 4-1 victory over the Ontario Reign Sunday night.
Texas has now won back-to-back games to open up its six-game West Coast road trip, after it topped Coachella Valley last night. The Stars' victory tonight broke the Reign’s four-game home win streak at Toyota Arena.
Shlaine broke the scoreless deadlock in the first period, connecting with a Cameron Hughes pass in the neutral zone that set up Shlaine with a one-on-one opportunity with Reign goaltender Phoenix Copley.
